Mystery Vessel, 2023

‘Baggage Claim’ Group show at Staffordshire St.

17th Feb 2023 - 5th March 2023

Mystery Vessel is a response to ancient Chinese seismometers, imperial vessels that could not predict earthquakes, but could only detect their direction of travel. These priceless bronze tools created a system of constant tension and constant vigilance, but provided little tangible help to the common person. Mystery Vessel is a seismometer for the modern imperial class, the rapacious capitalist class, made of layers of laser cut wood wrapped in fabrics liberated from the overabundance in charity shops
